The SHORT STORY  SLINGER

John Bayly was born very early in his life and embarked on a dissolute path, learning how life worked by doing what didn’t work. Because of a trail of burning vehicles, yearning maidens and scowling policemen, no local would employ him.

So, he strode forth from the hills of his beloved countryside and experienced life as an accountant, credit manager, company director, shepherd, scrub-cutter, tree pruner, freezing worker, plastics factory worker, saxophonist, army driver, tour bus driver, stage and television actor, singer, guitarist, builder, lecturer, facilitator for men’s groups, reporter, columnist, magazine editor, publisher, writer, AIDS workshop co-facilitator, barman, horse and camel trekker, stock-whip teacher, corporate trainer, estate manager, lecturer, and writer in a myriad of genres and voices … in several countries and continents.

Having now returned to the hills of his youth, he promises to abide by most of the reasonable rules of his society; but not necessarily the unreasonable ones.

When not renovating his humble abode and coffeeing with locals, he wanders the earth giving talks, workshops and solace to those at the crossroads of their lives, helping them turn road blocks into starting blocks.
